As we near December, the holiday is season upon us! That means Christmas, New Years, Potlucks, Friendsgivings, lots of time off, and hopefully some traveling!
Traveling can be exciting, but if you’re trying to stay healthy, it can also be stressful. I love to travel a lot, so here are a few tips you can follow on your journey, be it by plane or car.
Pack some healthy snacks: This may seem like a no brainer, but it is an important one. In the airport, unless you’re in a big city, healthy food can be hard to come by, and is often expensive. Most restaurants will have things like burgers, chicken tenders, nachos, wings, and fries, and while these foods are fine to eat sometimes, they probably won’t even taste that great at the airport.

Awesome snacks:
- Trail mix: raw or roasted nuts such as almonds, peanuts, and cashews, with dried fruit like raisins or dried apricot pieces.
- Cut celery in a small bag with a nut butter pouch or small container of nut/seed butter or hummus
- Roasted chickpeas
- Fresh fruit in a container
Start your day off with movement: If you have a long day of travel ahead of you (which could be a 4-10 hour flight), it’s good to start your day by getting some activity in to increase your blood-flow and energy before you sit all day. This could be a 30 minute run, a yoga flow, some weight-training, or even some extra stretching or walking before you head to the airport.
