The holidays can, at times, put a halt on our fitness goals. Spring break is just a couple months away. It will here before we realize it, so let’s get back on track! Whether you are trying to maintain your current weight or lose a few pounds, it is still important to continue exercising and eating well to stay healthy.
Transitioning back into a healthy mindset is sometimes difficult at first. Knowing that you can still eat delectable snacks while doing it makes it just a little bit easier.
Here are a few filling sweet and salty snacks that are great way to recover and keep you full after a tough workout:
- Green Smoothie - Green smoothies are unique because you can add whatever ingredients you want. Just be sure to limit the sugar! Some classic green smoothie ingredients include a variety of fruits and vegetables, unsweetened almond milk, Greek yogurt and chia seeds!
- Ground Turkey Stuffed Peppers - Turkey is a great alternative to beef because it is a lower-fat substitute. If you want to keep it vegetarian, that is a great option as well. You can add whatever veggies, seasoning and cheese you want to these stuffed peppers. If you are looking for a more filling option, include quinoa or wild rice in your peppers or on the side.
- Protein Balls - You can alter these tasty treats however you please. Start with a base of any nut butter of your choosing; add honey, your favorite protein powder and oats, flax seeds or chia seeds. Roll your mixture into one-inch balls and refrigerate for one hour before eating.
- Chicken or Turkey Pita Pits - First pick your favorite protein and add whatever veggies you please. Make your pita extra tasty by adding hummus or a yogurt-based dressing like cucumber or dill.
