As the temperatures outside are rising, there is no better way to cool you down than with some tasty homemade popsicles. As amazing as popsicles can taste when bought from a store, it is likely they are loaded with sugar, dyes, and empty calories.
Making homemade popsicles is not only fun, but also guarantees you know what’s going into your body so you won’t lose that summer physique you’ve been working ever-so-hard on.. Here are a few of my favorite homemade popsicle recipes that taste just as good, if not better, than they sound:
1. Dark Chocolate Frozen Kiwi Pops: These are sure to impress your guests. They look straight out of a magazine but have minimal prep work required. First throw your kiwis into the freezer for between 4 and 48 hours. Once they are nice and frozen, slice them and prep your chocolate. Melt 4 parts dark chocolate with 1 part coconut oil in the microwave for 10-15 seconds at a time until melted. Add sticks to the kiwi slices and dip them into the warm chocolate to your liking. Eat immediately or refreeze until you are ready to snack!
2. Frozen Fruit Pops: For this recipe, you can choose whatever fruits are your favorite; I suggest using 4 types of chopped fruit and ¼ cup of pineapple or orange juice. Add the diced fruit and juice into a five-ounce cup, add a stick and freeze for a few hours until frozen. To get the Popsicle out of the cup run it under warm water for a few seconds until it loosens and enjoy!
3. Peaches and Cream Pops: For this recipe use 5 ripe peaches, 2 ripe bananas, 1 cup water, 1 ½ cups plain yogurt, 2-4 tablespoons honey, 1 tablespoon lime juice. Blend all of the ingredients up, poor into a 5-ounce cup, add a stick and freeze until solid!
Whichever recipe you choose, you can alter it to your liking. What’s great about homemade popsicles is that you know exactly what you’re consuming. Put good in, get good out. The creativity is endless!
