ABOUT SAND
The Miami University Student Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (SAND) offers opportunities for Miami students to get involved with volunteer activities in the fields of nutrition, food service management and dietetics on campus and within the Oxford, Ohio community. The organization will pursue these objectives in affiliation with the Ohio and Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. The affiliation is to give assistance in preparing programs and to help further the purpose of SAND.
SAND allows Miami students to meet others interested in nutrition and dietetics. Active participation in SAND events allows those pursuing a career in dietetics the opportunity to gain experience.

SAND offers opportunities to:
- Attend monthly meetings involving speakers, food and discussion of future SAND events
- Provide the opportunity to network with other students and professionals in the dietetics field
- Volunteer as a nutrition educator within the local community
- Help with sports nutrition workshops for Miami varsity athletes
- Tutor Miami students taking introductory nutrition and food science courses
- Assist with food preparation and event preparation for events sponsored by Miami's Department of Kinesiology and Health such as the Homecoming Brunch, Alumni Brunch and Semi-Annual Nutrition Conference
Food4Thought
SAND also coordinates some events with Food4Thought, a Miami University student-interest group for specialized dietary practices and food allergies or intolerances. Food4Thought members prepare and eat healthy and nutritious dishes to enjoy in a mindful way!
